Why Being Your-Self is the Key to Setting Yourself Free Emotionally

I see a lot of clients as an Āyurvedic Practitioner and transformation Coach, and they come to me with many types of concerns-  they want more energy and vitality, a desire to achieve more, and to let go of emotional patterns that no longer serve- But at their core, each and every one of them (and you reading this!) wants the same thing- To be fully seen in the unique emanation of the Divine that is YOU.

Remember when you were a kid and your teachers asked you- “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Somewhere along the way, we were taught that we had to “do” or “be” a certain way in order to be successful, or we experienced a trauma that made us shrink back from this original truth that ANYTHING is possible.

Humanity is in a crisis- A crisis of self-criticism, shame, and suppression that has led people to act all kinds of crazy in an attempt to release that which is begging to be brought forth- your DIVINE PURPOSE that is your gift to humanity!!

Every person on this planet has a potent medicine, a divine calling that your Soul came here to express, but not everyone will answer that call because you are too scared, too conditioned, and too uncertain to take the LEAP into being weird AF and totally yourself.

The Truth is, being your-Self not only heals yourself, it elevates the collective consciousness of humanity so we can come together in unity to the environmental crisis our world is facing. When people are living in trauma, it is VERY hard to see past the immediate problems they are facing to deal with bigger problems or opportunities.. How does that healing begin? By allowing yourself to truly be SEEN without filter or FILLER, to speak your truth, and by letting your freak flag fly without pain or shame.

I’ve had more practice being weird than most- I grew up in conservative Kansas rocking pink hair and gold doc martens, and my family was not any more normal-My mother is a german immigrant, my stepdad is black, my stepmom is taiwanese, and I have 5 sisters all ages and colors of the rainbow. Needless to see, we were not your typical neighbors down the street.

Then society happened. I was picked on for being “nerdy” which led me to rebel against my scholastic ability for really shitty grades in the name of being “cool”.  I used to have self-doubt around being a professional who says fuck a LOT and tricked myself into thinking I should tone it down. I thought because I still had health concerns that I was a bad health care professional, and that my life had to be “perfect” before I could serve others-- all of which turned out to be USELESS conditioning that only served to block me from expressing myself fully and led to to shitty emotions like

-and even anger!

That’s right! Suppressing myself caused me to act all SORTS of crazy- and not the good kind. And I’m not alone in this- most of my clients who come to me with feelings of doubt, uncertainty, and insecurity are suppressing their true natures, and are so stuck in the matrix their egos have created that they need my help to get out, because I’ve already taken that journey and know the way. The truth is, your WEIRD is what makes you WONDERFUL, even if your 13 year old self that was insulted by someone thinks otherwise.

As Alan Watts so succinctly says,

“For unless one is able to live fully in the present, the future is a hoax. There is no point whatsoever in making plans for a future which you will never be able to enjoy. When your plans mature, you will still be living for some other future beyond. You will never, never be able to sit back with full contentment and say, ‘Now, I’ve arrived!’ Your entire education has deprived you of this capacity because it was preparing you for the future, instead of showing you how to be alive now.”

When we suppress our inherent nature, when we go the route of “supposed to” instead “I get to”, our lives feel meaningless and dull- because when you aren’t living your purpose, your life IS meaning-less- and your spirit gets PISSED.

There is an African proverb that says, “A child who does not feel embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth.”

Too many people are burning down their lives because they aren’t living their TRUTH, which brings out so many self-destructive patterns.

The TRUTH is- Self-ish and Self-less both begin in the same place. With YOU.

You have to put on your oxygen mask before you can serve other people, and that means letting yourself do, act, speak, and be the thing your heart is yearning for.

You HAVE to let your freak flag fly- and the happy side effect is you will learn how to accept others JUST as they are when you learn to do the same for you.

You MUST be your-SELF! Because when you suppress your-Self, you will not be able to heal, and you will get stuck repeating the same old lessons until you finally figure it out. Why not speed up the process? Haven’t you had enough hard lessons? I know I have!

It’s time to put your matches down and come home to your-Self- not the little self that has been holding you back, but the big Self that is calling you forward. Your value is inherent, you are priceless, so stop selling your soul for shiny pennies that don’t add ANY value to the bank account that matters. The memory bank that values service, compassion, and wisdom. The memory bank that holds the imprint of your Divine Self that has travelled lifetime to lifetime, body to body, and is whole, perfect, and complete.

The World NEEDS your light to shine. And so, dear one, do YOU.
